The People and Products of Our Origin The F. J. Littell Machine Company had its humble beginnings during World War I in a garage behind the Littell home. Frederick J. Littell and his five employees devoted their time and energy to the building of roll feeds for punch presses and feeds for coiled stock. The corporate beginning of the F. J. Littell Machine Company was December 11, 1918, at the end of World War I. Frederick J. Littell joined forces with Mr. Stevenson, Mechanical Engineer, and Mr. Swangren, Shop Foreman, from American Can Machine Shops in Oak Park, and set up shop in 1,600 square feet of rented space at 4125 Ravenswood Avenue in Chicago.  Littell continued to grow in size and capabilities, along the way developing many of the technologies and processes commonly used today in the metalworking industry. Among these innovations are the zig-zag feed, coil-to-coil welding; and the scroll shearing lines for the container and tinplate industries. Today Littell designs and builds high quality products and systems for a variety of metal stamping and forming related industries. Among these are uncoilers, straighteners, feeds and accessories for press room and coil processign operations, as well as high speed cut-to-length and scroll cutting systems for the can and container producing industry. Littell continues to provide customer service and support for these systems worldwide. |
Meeting Our Quality Objectives and Delivery Needs Littell’s facility provides an ideal environment for the wide range of services we provide. This facility gives us ample space for simultaneous construction of several large, fully integrated systems, as well as a wide range of standardized and stand-alone equipment – all in a pleasant and safe environment for customers to conduct acceptance tests, and to participate in our comprehensive training classes. By providing such an environment, Littell remains a cut above its competition.  The layout of our facility caters well to our needs. The office area is arranged for engineering, sales, management information systems, aftermarket service, finance, accounting and general office support.Our factory includes bridge crane services throughout, recessed and drive through loading docks, a fabrication area complete with a full welding and sheet metal shop, and a highly productive machine shop.
